Quagga mussels are destroying the food chain in the Great Lakes.

  Pictured is phytoplankton as seen through a microscope.  The various types of phytoplankton form the base of the food pyramid in the Great Lakes.  Zebra mussels. an invasive species, filter phytoplankton out of the water and deprive other species of their basic food.  Read more about this in my book, The Dynamic Great Lakes.
