ArtWalk and Migrations

a schooling of minnows on the Grand River

Today I saw thousands of cormorants migrating over Lake Michigan. Monarch butterflies are migrating along the lake shore. Fish are running upstream and silvery flashes of bait fish and loud splashes of large fish may be heard in the Grand River: trout, salmon and carp.
Artists have migrated to the area and will be showing their work in Grand Haven until Oct. 8. People have a chance to vote on their favorite art objects and to purchase. Pictured are minnows, folk art in all sorts of creative mediums. This captured the imagination of many. 500 minnows were painted and larger versions: rocket fish are all over town.

Today there was a schooling of minnows along the channel. There is a lively spirit of fun in town. Even the rain in the late afternoon could not spoil the fun.
