The Scream

November 30, 2009

Edvard Munch’s famous painting, the Scream,  is how I feel about what has been done to the Great Lakes.  They have been exploited and abused for 200 years.  Now we have legislation to improve the quality of our environment, but we could all die of old age before it is actually carried out.

There have been some environmental victories.  Ospreys, bald eagles and peregrine falcons have returned after the ban of DDT.  We can’t give up.  When we see something wrong, that is the time to think globally and act locally.
